New York City (Page 2)

Throughout this era of the pandemic I have been on a constant quest for the covid silver lining. There have been surprisingly quite a few. That said, I would give every single one of them up to get back lives that were lost or seriously altered in a negative fashion. But as I cannot make that happen, the quest continues.

So here I am delivering to you as a big shiny red apple in a form of a silver lining that NOW is the time to pop your mask on and take FULL advantage of the many, many institutions and dining establishments that are open and eager to accommodate your visit…Continue Reading

Early days in the pandemic I spent a good dose of time regretting the moniker of this operation. Grab Your Group and GO was pretty much the antithesis statement of what to do in a pandemic. I got over it, but here we are a year later still unable to grab too many people or go to too many places. Yet we now have threads of hope so I offer some ideas for you to Grab Your little mini Group and GO…Continue Reading

The role of Tina Turner, in the musical of the same name, has to be all kinds of grueling – a massive commitment at each and every performance. The energy burn is off the charts and the vocal range and explosiveness of the voice that needs to be employed to pull this performance off is otherworldly. Which is why, I have since learned, that they have cast two Tinas to play the part…Continue Reading

Usually when I gather a group, I am more often than not experiencing the selected show/activity for the first time along with the group. This gives me a semi-free pass on my decision-making skills if whatever I selected is a bust. I love the freedom of a free pass. But sometimes I visit a place and then make the determination to bring the group back, like recently when a group of 25 of us made our way to the National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey…Continue Reading

My friend Phyllis clued me into Say Something Bunny! with an urgency that indicated this was not an optional suggestion (thank you Phyllis). So after some cursory research I assembled a small rogue gang (“the theater” accommodates a MAX of 25) and signed us all up for this off off off off off off Broadway performance….Continue Reading

While in the audience at The Lehman Trilogy I learned, among a zillion other things, that I am a middle man for providing experiences. I have no hand in the creation of the experiences. I am but a fellow experience seeker and I take groups with me to share in the experience. I LOVE IT! So I will continue to embrace this role of cultural middle man for a good long time. And an experience is exactly what was proffered when almost 70 of us met at the Park Avenue Armory to view the staggeringly stark, but supremely powerful The Lehman Trilogy.Continue Reading

Chinatown is my family’s go-to spot when we are at a loss as to what to do on any given Sunday. We hop on the Q – hop off at Canal – and explore and eat and explore some more.  Which is why I can say with confidence that I have walked by the Eldridge Street Synagogue a bazillion times. But did my eyes cast a gaze or did I ever once consider the storied history of this landmark building that has been standing guard on Eldridge street for over 131 years!??? Continue Reading

I am the target market for experience billboards. Years ago we were driving to the Grand Canyon and the husband privately prayed my eyes would not spot the giant billboard promoting Bearizona! His prayers were not answered. Of course we went to the drive-through zoo on our way to the Grand Canyon (Guess what? He loved it too and has since given up on trying to avert my billboard inspired explorations). If I see something that looks intriguing, fun or experiential we go. Such was the case when I saw the stark black and white signs all over LaGuardia airport announcing SpyScape…Continue Reading
