This show has been on my list since July, but given how busy things have been it got a little lost in the bustling fall sauce. But the handy insta feed people are going to this show 2 and 3 times and always look so very happy when in the theater. As a proponent of HAPPY I had to SQUEEZE IT IN!

Please join me in a hair salon in Harlem courtesy of The Manhattan Theater Club for a joyful, buoyant, and jubilant evening at Jaja’s African Hair Braiding. It’s a quick one – 90 minutes and done!

This dazzling world premiere welcomes you into Jaja’s bustling hair braiding shop in Harlem where every day, a lively and eclectic group of West African immigrant hair braiders are creating masterpieces on the heads of neighborhood women. During one sweltering summer day, love will blossom, dreams will flourish and secrets will be revealed. The uncertainty of their circumstances simmers below the surface of their lives and when it boils over, it forces this tight-knit community to confront what it means to be an outsider on the edge of the place they call home. This extraordinary new play is by the award winning Ghanaian-American playwright Jocelyn Bioh (School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play) and will be directed by Obie winner Whitney White (Our Dear Dead Drug Lord).

THE FINE PRINT

REFUNDS: Please note ALL SALES ARE FINAL. We understand that sometimes a change of plans is an inevitable fact of life. Should a situation arise with your purchased tickets we are here for you, so please reach out. We have amassed a unique situation where it is possible that a buyer within this large group may be unearthed. IF an exchange is confirmed, WE WILL DEDUCT $20 PER TICKET from the original price for the refund. All refunds will be in the form of a credit towards a future purchase.

If you find yourself unable to attend on the day of the show, we are happy to find lucky recipients for your tickets if you can no longer use them and want to gift them to a good home. Please notify us as soon as possible as we will make every effort to avoid empty seats in the theater.

Let’s also remember the much unsung feature of broadway, the privilege of past dating. You can read about it HERE.

FEES: A service fee is included in the price of each ticket as organizing these events is not an insignificant allocation of time and resources – though we do love most every minute of our time spent masterminding evenings at the theater. The service fee varies from show to show based on cost, demand and our efforts to secure the tickets.
