Bette Midler glowin’ and crowin’ and goin’ strong in Hello Dolly

Hello Dolly had absolutely nothing in common with the play Sweat. Instead of soot and sweat, we got sparkles, feathers, and fancy hats. In place of a gritty bar, we were transported to the red velvet bastion of The Harmonia Gardens. Heated clashes were cast aside for outsize song and dance numbers. And a talented ensemble was replaced with a 5’1″, 71 year old, one woman phenom casting her spell on most every member of the audience…
